Bridlewood Winery

Wine Tasting at Bridlewood

This stunning 105-acre estate is built in a rustic, Spanish-style reminiscent of California’s historic missions.  The winemakers at Bridlewood’s winery select grapes from premier vineyards throughout the region to create critically acclaimed wines that tell the story of California’s Central Coast.

Bridlewood is a wine tasting heaven…a beautiful and spacious estate to wander in, while sipping some really great quality wines. The tasting room is elegant and imposing, and if you choose to become a member of their wonderful wine club you can have access to the members tasting room and lakeside picnic area. Built in an old stable block, the tasting room is surrounded by barrel racks filled with maturing wines, and it simply oozes class and atmosphere.

The Santa Ynez Valley, home to Bridlewood Estate Winery, achieved renown with the popularity of the film Sideways. The valley occupies an unusual east-west corridor, and nearly the entire region enjoys cooling ocean influence at night.

The result is a wide variety of vineyard sites, with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay flourishing in the Santa Rita Hills to the west, and Bordeaux and Rhone varietals in the warmer areas further to the east. This is a winery and a Santa Barbara tasting destination not to be missed.

The SB Wine Wizard recommends: Block 7 Syrah

The grapes for Bridlewood’s Block 7 Syrah were sourced exclusively from their estate vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. Block 7 Syrah is special because of three attributes: the east-west orientation of the block, the clonal change within the block and co-fermentation with Viognier. This combination of characteristics makes this wine bright and complex. The harvest in 2015 produced reduced yields but the quality of the grapes was excellent. The berry size and clusters were smaller than in years past, making the flavor of the fruit wonderfully bold and rich.

Bridlewood Winery’s Block 7 Syrah showcases how proper vineyard selection, winemaking techniques, and artful blending can create elegant wines. Bright and spicy perfume with hints of black pepper and cardamom seamlessly blend to produce a delectable flavor. A creamy palate with toasted oak notes and just a hint of peppery spice make this wine soft and easy to enjoy!
